PICPADL Questions and Answers:

1) can the PICPADL be "self powered" from the keyer dit/dah pullup voltages ? 

No, the active current is too high

2) is the PICPADL immune to RFI ?

No, if there is a lot of RF in the shack, the PICPADL may be subject to false sending (extra unintended dits/dahs)
use of good quality shielded cable, metal enclosures, chokes on the cabling may help

3) can the PICPADL be powered directly from a 9V battery ?

NO ! it might work but please don't do it, the PIC chip has a normal maximum power supply voltage of 5 Volts.
the picture in the altoids tin uses a 9V battery along with the Keyer Accessory kit to provide 5 volts to the PICPADL
